Clinical Dr. Thomas O. McMeekin
Dr. Thomas O. McMeekin, who is the president of the Genesee Valley Laser Centre, received his Bachelor of Arts with Distinction at Stanford University. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Rochester Medical School in 1971.
Dr. McMeekin served an Internal Medicine Internship at the Harvard University Beth Israel University Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts in 1972. He completed his residency in medicine at the University of Rochester in 1976. He completed his residency in Dermatology at Harvard University (Massachusetts General Hospital and the Lahey Clinic) in 1978.
Dr. McMeekin is board certified in Internal Medicine and Dermatology. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
He is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. A nationally recognized speaker on lasers, he teaches several laser courses. He has published numerous articles on laser therapy. Dr. Beth Lertzman
Dr. Beth Lertzman received her Bachelor of Arts in biology and chemistry at the University of Delaware, Honors Program, where she was elected to the Beta Biological Honor Society. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Hahnemann University Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1993.
Dr. Lertzman served an Internal Medicine Internship at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in 1994. She completed her residency in Dermatology at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester, in 1997. During her residency, she published articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented papers at the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meetings.
Dr. Lertzman is board certified in Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
She has developed a strong interest in performing chemical peels and Botox for facial rejuvenation. She has trained in various courses including those the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Holly Hahn
Dr. Holly Hahn graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio in 1976. She received her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1986 and became a resident in the department of internal medicine 1986-93. This was followed by a dermatology residency from 1989-92 at Indiana University Medical Center. She finished her medical training by completing a dermatopathology fellowship at Duke University in 1993.
Dr. Hahn spent seven years at Indiana University Medical Center on faculty teaching students and residents, seeing patients, and performing clinical pharmaceutical trials and clinical outcomes research in the departments of dermatology, pathology and internal medicine. Dr. Hahn has given numerous presentations and has authored many article on general dermatology, biologic therapy for skin disease, dermatopathology and clinical outcomes research. For the past two years, Dr. Hahn was in private practice in the greater Kansas City area.
Dr. Hahn has also gained an interest in cosmetic dermatology and has trained in various courses including those the American Academy of Dermatology hosts. Her extensive curriculum vitae details her experience, teachings, lectures and journal articles.
Kristin Capuano, FNP-C
Kristin Capuano, FNP-C, is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2004, and went on to receive her Master’s Degree from the University of Rochester in 2008 to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Kristin has worked at Strong Memorial Hospital for five years on the trauma/general surgery unit. She has served as a charge nurse and preceptor for new nurses. Kristin has also been a clinical instructor for University of Rochester nursing students.
Kristin is a member of Sigma Theta Tau national honor society. She also holds memberships in the American Society of Laser Medicine, as well as the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State.
She has trained extensively with Dr. McMeekin, and participates in continuing education in the field of dermatology. Kristin also runs the Infusion Center here at GVLC, where we currently infuse Remicade and Reclast.
Karen Arcara, R.N.
Karen Arcara, R.N., is GVLC's Nursing Supervisor. She is also a Clinical Laser Specialist. She received her A.A.S. in Nursing from Monroe Community College in 1993 and her diploma from the Medical Assistant Program of the Bryant and Stratton Business Institute in 1974. She oversees GVLC's nursing staff and scheduling.
Ms. Arcara has made several professional presentations on laser safety, wound care, and the nursing role in the treatment of side effects. Her experience includes patient care at local hospitals.
